It’s so easy to travel from Brussels to Berlin by train. If you want to travel to the very heart of Berlin in less than 7 hours with a high speed train, you just need to change trains once, at Cologne's main station (Köln Hbf), so you don’t even need to change stations.
If you prefer slow travel by night, there's a direct night train from Brussels to Berlin six days a week with European Sleeper.
The first leg of your journey will take you from Brussels (Midi/Zuid) station to the central station in Cologne (Köln Hbf). This service runs several times a day with high-speed Eurostar or ICE trains, and takes just 1 hour 51 minutes.
Once you arrive at Köln Hbf (Cologne) station, change trains to get to Berlin. All you need to do is change platforms to catch a high-speed ICE train straight to the German capital.
The 17 daily ICE trains will take you directly into the centre of Berlin in around 4 hours 20 minutes. We recommend getting off at the central station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof), which is within easy reach of all the most popular tourist destinations in Berlin. Berlin Hbf also offers excellent connections to other German cities (Leipzig or Dresden, for example), and to neighbouring countries such as Poland.
Due to announced strike, fewer trains will be operating on the Belgian rail network from Sunday 11 October (10 pm - CET) to Monday 11 October 2026 included.
An alternative train service will be drawn up based on available train staff. All details on this alternative train service will be available 24h in advance on www.belgiantrain.be.
Please take this alternative train service into account if you need to take a domestic connection in Belgium before or after an international train journey, or if you need to take our regional trains just across the border (Roosendaal, Maastricht, Aachen, Luxembourg, Lille or Maubeuge).
For the time being, we still don't know the possible impact of this strike on international trains (EuroCity, Eurocity Direct, TGV INOUI, Eurostar, OUIGO, ICE etc.). Please check this page regularly for further updates.
Validity of tickets for EuroCity & Eurocity Direct:
Every year in mid-December, European rail companies simultaneously amend their train services, with adapted timetables taking effect more or less throughout Europe.
Reservations on Deutsche Bahn trains (including ICE services) for journeys to, from and within Germany from 13 December 2026 onwards will be possible from Wednesday 14 October.
Please note that Eurostar services connecting Paris, Brussels, Cologne and Dortmund after 13 December are already available for reservation.
